Carillon Aparthotel is a refined aparthotel in Riga, located in the very heart of the Old Town – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the city’s oldest streets. The hotel offers comfortable apartments where historic architecture is harmoniously combined with contemporary interiors in subtle pastel tones.
The distinctive character and elegance of the hotel apartments are shaped by Riga’s Art Nouveau heritage and the Art Deco era, expressed through clean lines, balanced proportions and carefully considered details. A warm colour palette, high-quality materials and thoughtfully selected furnishings create a calm and harmonious atmosphere in which aesthetics and functionality complement one another, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant stay for guests.
These apartments in Old Riga are well suited to both business travellers and families who value space, functionality and an aesthetically pleasing environment.
In crafting the aparthotel’s interiors, the designers sought to balance the spirit of historical heritage with the comfort of a modern lifestyle, using high-quality and visually harmonious materials throughout the finishing and furnishing process:
Glass walls are used both in the hotel corridors and in selected apartments, allowing functional zoning of space without restricting the flow of natural light.

Large windows are an integral part of the Carillon Aparthotel interior, filling the apartments with natural daylight and visually expanding the space. Some apartments feature French balconies, adding an extra sense of openness and allowing guests to enjoy the unique atmosphere of Old Riga. Natural light interacts with the neutral colour palette and materials used, highlighting the proportions and details of the interior. This approach creates a light and tranquil environment, suitable both for relaxation and for focused work in the city centre.
The furniture in the aparthotel embodies the Art Deco aesthetic through characteristic balance of form, functionality and reserved luxury. Sculptural tables with rounded lines, lightweight chairs with elegant metal frames and warm wooden accents, as well as minimalist upholstered furniture, form a calm and visually harmonious composition. The neutral colour palette accentuates the proportions of the space and the natural light, while the considered forms create the sense that each piece has been deliberately chosen to complement the others aesthetically.

The building’s historical character is preserved through original period features such as restored tiled stoves in selected apartments and historic ceiling décor in the lobby. These elements harmoniously complement the geometric patterns and lines of the Art Deco style, creating an elegant and refined atmosphere. This approach makes Carillon Aparthotel a distinctive hotel in Riga, where history is not merely decorative, but an authentic part of the interior.
Carillon Aparthotel has been designed so that guests feel at home from the very first moments of their stay. Bright corridors, a cosy inner courtyard and a well-considered layout create a sense of privacy and calm, allowing guests to step away from the bustle of the city while remaining connected to the rhythm of life in Old Riga.
Just as the sounds of the carillon bells come together to form a harmonious melody, the interior of this aparthotel creates a soothing atmosphere, ensuring that every stay is pleasant and filled with positive emotions. If you are looking for a hotel in Riga where design, history and comfort are seamlessly combined in stylish and thoughtfully designed interiors, Carillon Aparthotel is the perfect choice.
Carillon Aparthotel is an apartment hotel located in the very heart of Old Riga, within the UNESCO World Heritage zone, at 13 Pils Street, just a few steps from the Presidential Palace, Dome Square, museums, and the city’s favourite leisure spots. The apartment hotel is an excellent choice both for shorter visits and for long-term stays. It is designed for guests who appreciate privacy, elegant interiors, and the authentic atmosphere of Riga’s historic centre.
The history of the Carillon Aparthotel building begins in the second half of the 19th century. In 1870, a two-storey rental house was mentioned for the first time in state archives, and later it underwent significant transformations.
In the early 20th century, around 1905, Latvian merchant Alexander Mentzendorff commissioned Baltic German architect Alfred Aschenkampff to expand the structure and turn it into a unified complex of five- and six-storey buildings. This reconstruction defined the architectural character of the building, which can still be felt today — both in its façade and in the layout of its interior spaces.
Over the decades, the building repeatedly changed its purpose — it once housed a printing house, a rental residence, a theatre, and even a strip club. Due to years of abandonment, the historic property eventually fell into disrepair, until in September 2023 it underwent complete reconstruction, modernisation, and conversion into an apartment hotel.

The rebirth of Carillon Aparthotel building is a story of honouring the past and of meticulous restoration. The interiors preserve authentic wooden structures and tiled stoves, while elements bearing the mark of time — such as ceramic tiles, railings and decorative details — have been restored. Together, they create a truly unique atmosphere.
During the building’s refurbishment, its historical layout was preserved, and each room was given an individual character. The result is truly unique apartments — each room tells its own story.
Special attention was paid to the windows: the original ground-floor windows were restored, while precise visual replicas were created for the upper floors. As all the windows had unique shapes and designs, their new copies were crafted according to individual drawings.
One of the apartment hotel’s highlights is its eight original tiled stoves — carefully relocated and harmoniously integrated into the interiors as refined decorative accents. At the same time, the basement was redesigned to meet modern needs: it now contains technical rooms, a gym, and a laundry area, making long-term stays especially comfortable.

The interior of Carillon Aparthotel is not merely an aesthetic choice but a well-considered concept reflecting Riga’s cultural identity. The design draws inspiration from elements of Art Nouveau and Art Deco — styles that have long been part of the city’s visual language. Art Nouveau, characteristic of Old Riga with its flowing lines, floral motifs, and delicate details, meets Art Deco, whose expressiveness lies in geometry, rhythmic lines, contrasts, and refined materials.
In the hotel’s interiors, both styles form a harmonious ensemble — seen in colour palettes, ornaments, and furniture lines, creating a calm and elegant environment. The emphasis is placed on natural materials, especially wood textures, as well as high-quality contemporary design that lends the space a modern yet understated sense of luxury.
This design approach is no coincidence — it reflects the character of Old Riga: historic yet lively; elegant yet unpretentious. For travellers, it offers an opportunity to immerse themselves in the city’s aesthetic traditions.

Carillon Aparthotel is housed in a reconstructed pre-war Art Nouveau building, first mentioned in state archives in 1870. Over the years, the building has served as a tenement house, a printing house, and a residential property. Now, following a careful restoration, it has been transformed into a modern aparthotel with a rich historical legacy.
The hotel’s name is inspired by the carillon — a musical instrument composed of a series of tuned bells whose melodic sound symbolises harmony and tradition. Just as these chimes fill the streets of Old Riga with a peaceful atmosphere, Carillon Aparthotel invites its guests to enjoy a harmonious stay in a historic setting. The hotel’s interior and décor have been created by Latvian architects and designers, who paid particular attention to preserving the building’s architectural heritage.

The opening of the new aparthotel marks another milestone in the development of the Keystone Collection hotel network, founded in 2023. The collection currently includes two hotels — Konventa Sēta Hotel and Carillon Aparthotel. Both are located in Old Riga, just a short walk apart, and complement each other perfectly. The main distinction of Carillon Aparthotel is that it has been designed especially for travellers seeking an extended stay in Riga — for weeks or even months.

Each stop along the way will reveal a piece of Latvia’s cultural heritage – from hearty and delicious dishes to refreshing varieties of beer.
Traditional Latvian cuisine, inspired by nature, and centuries-old brewing traditions offer an intriguing array of flavours. Those are the dishes that at their core are simple and natural yet nourishing and aesthetically pleasing. On cold winter days, those are hearty meat dishes that will bring warmth, while in summer, fresh vegetables and local fish offer light refreshment. Every bite tells a story of Latvia’s rural landscapes, generous forests, and the riches of the Baltic Sea.
Latvia also boasts a strong brewing heritage that lives on to this day, with a chilled pint of beer often accompanying meals. Wide range of breweries offer everything from light lagers to darker varieties with a bittersweet caramel note. Small breweries in Latvia’s countryside deserve special mention — they uphold centuries-old traditions, using local ingredients and experimenting with unique flavour profiles. Latvian beer culture is marked not only by its diversity, but also by deep respect for the rituals and traditions of beer enjoyment, making it a cherished part of the national heritage.
The Old Town is rich in cafés, bars, and restaurants, but this time we would like to highlight a beer restaurant Two More Beers beloved by both locals and visitors, as well as a unique café Cruffins known for its wide selection of cruffins.
